Brigitte Merino

short bio

Brigitte Merino Naranjo is a researcher in the field of biophysics and biomedicine at the Molecular Biophysics Laboratory at the Department of Physics.

She completed her undergraduate studies in Biophysics in Ecuador.

Her interest was always focused on applying physics to medicine, so she completed a master’s degree on matter physics, where she worked on modulation of protein aggregation using experimental techniques such as UV-Visible, Electronic Paramagnetic Resonance, and FT-infrared spectroscopies.

Throughout her career, she has experience in biological sample preparation and data analysis, which has strengthened my multidisciplinary approach to research.

Currently, her research focuses on liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS), a key biological phenomenon involved in the formation of membrane-less cellular compartments that regulate important processes.
